Surprise!

20 Sep

This is what I came home to yesterday afternoon:

Lovely little yard signs

Lovely little yard signs

I already had the Obama and Jim Roth sign, but Mae Scott came by while we were gone and gave us the John Moore and Obama/Biden sign. So far, there’s been no attempt to steal them so I am thrilled with that. It’s only a matter of time though.

Last night, Dare and Slaylen spent the night over with Jakob and Spencer. You have no idea how exhausting 5 boys, 1 toddler, and a puppy can be until you experience it first hand!

Yesterday, Randal Danger had to go get his mange dip and his final round of puppy shots. He thinks he is tough shit now. He growls and barks at everyone….even Dylan. But once he realizes who he is, he knocks it off right away and becomes the lover dog.

He started throwing up this morning along with uncontrollable shivering and refusing to eat or drink. I called the vet and he concluded that he probably got a nice taste of the dip and that’s causing to have an upset tummy. He said the shivers were a normal reaction to the dip. They said he was a rowdy little dude for the dip bath. He gave me some regalan to give to him to combat the nausea and vomiting. So far so good.

Here’s the most recent pic of our babe:

The  boys had their parent teacher conferences on Thursday. Maddux is doing WONDERFUL! His teacher said he is very well behaved (yeah, I was shocked too) and that he was doing well. He needs to work on a few of his gross motor skills (standing on one foot, hopping on one foot, etc.) and buckle down on his handwriting but other than that he is doing great.

Spencer is doing good too except for writing a few of his numbers backwards still. That is the only real issue he is having. I haven’t seen his progress report yet.

Jakob’s teacher conference went super too. He is doing great as far as grades go and he is behaving perfectly! I can not tell you how awesome it was to not have the teacher telling me he talked too much. She said that that day at school though, he got a pissy (not verbatim) attitude with her and she had never seen that from him before. She didn’t understand why he was having such a bad day and she asked him, but he kept saying nothing was wrong.

We got home and started talking to him and got to the bottom of what the issue was. They have Honor’s Choir at their school. Jakob tried out for it and was told to go back the next week because he has voice troubles. He went back, still having the voice trouble, and he didn’t make it. He was upset because he is the only one that tried and didn’t make it.

I know he isn’t going to be the next great singer because he does have that thing with his voice that makes him sound like he is losing it and I know that I can’t get mad because my kid wasn’t accepted, but I still ache for him having to go through that rejection at such a young age. Even though I am very much for not coddling kids and hate people who think that we all have to win when there’s only supposed to be one winner, there’s still that piece of me that would like to smack that teacher upside the head for telling him he isn’t good enough.

Anyway, I really need to get up and shower and clean house so I can chill and sew, so I am out! ♥

No political rantings today.

11 Sep

It doesn’t seem right to bitch about anything today.

Audrey is currently trying to take off her shorts while she is saying poop…..Could she really be grasping the potty concept or is she just trying to let her natural stripper come out? Only time will tell.

The boys and I discussed the terrorist attacks a  little this morning and I am sure they will discuss them at great length at school today. It’s hard to answer an 8 year old when asks why someone would do something like that. The only answer I could come up with was I have no idea.

Yesterday, Spencer asked me what breastfeeding was. That was a fun giggle inducing explaination. I told him that mommy boobs (giggle) make milk for babies and that when mommies use that milk to feed their babies then that is called breastfeeding. And he said “so mommies are like cows?”. :umum:

Yes Spencer…..Mommies are JUST like cows!

Anyway, I am going to run and maybe sew a little today.

Remember those that lost their lives 7 years ago today. ♥

Taking back the blog!

10 Sep

Initially when I decided to start blogging, I wanted it to be my outlet. I wanted to bitch if I felt like bitching and pour my heart out if the mood struck. Somewhere along the way, I lost that and it became about mundane things of our day-to-day and just the kids. No more.

Now you are going to have to put up with my political bitchings and praises. Now, I know that sometimes I will say somethings that my family might not get and surely there will be things that my friends don’t get. And that is ok. You just have to deal with that. If there’s ever a password protected post, it’s that way for a reason and if I didn’t give you the password, that means I don’t want you to read it. MmmKay?

My first bitch….If you compare yourself to a pit bull, don’t get offended when you are compared to a pig! Sarah Palin is nothing but one big ridiculous joke! Abstinence only and then your 17 year old daughter ends up pregnant? Riiiight! It’s effective huh?

Anti Abortion for all cases…..That makes me sick! Though, this is the same woman who made women pay for their rape kits at the hospital so I guess I shouldn’t expect much more from her.

She wanted books she thought were objective to be removed from Wasilla libraries. She even tried to strong-arm a librarian to get it done.

She won’t do media interviews until the campaign decides she’s ready? What is she, the Pope? Seriously, is the campaign going to protect her when she’s getting attacked by foreign governments when she is supposed to be fighting for our county’s rights?

She’s a disgusting woman and a WRONG choice to be a literal heartbeat away from running our country!

I digress. I could rant ALL DAY about how wrong this woman is, but I am sick of it for now (until some new story gets to the press anyway).

I am excited for the Obama/Biden ticket and I can’t wait to see the debates. They are going to be outstanding! At least on the Democratic front. I am not sure how the man with Alzheimer’s and the woman who can’t talk to the media without permission will fair.

Kids lie and it’s inevitable that they will be caught!

Yesterday afternoon Jakob came home with his friend Dillon. Nothing unusual, they walk here together everyday. Well, Jakob shows me 2 color pencils (yellow and black FYI) and a crumpled up piece of notebook paper. He proclaims, “I have homework, we have to color a leaf”. Dillon even popped up, “Yeah, we have to outline it in black and color over it in yellow”.

Yeah right I thought! A couple of weeks ago they DID have an assignment where they had to find 2 leaves to take  to school so I gave Jakob permission to go do this with Dillon. He had an hour to get his leaf found. Giving Jake the benefit of the doubt this time, I told him he could go to Dillon’s for 20 minutes. Off they went.

When they got back, I noticed Jake had come home empty handed. I asked him where his homework was. He left it at Dillon’s. I then asked him if this was an actual assignment or had they lied to me? They both swore it was homework until I threatened to call the teacher and ask. Jakob looked at Dillon and said “we are so busted”.

Busted is right my little man. I don’t put up with lying. He knows this. After almost 10 years of me drilling that in his head, I KNOW he knows this. The thing is, had he come home and cleaned his room, I would have let him go play at Dillon’s, but he wants to try to take the easy way out. It never works, but he always tries and always gets caught! He is now grounded for a week for lying.

Sunday we went bike riding! Maddux FINALLY figured out how to pedal his bike! It’s freekin AWESOME! He felt so liberated! So did I.

Spencer took his training wheels off his bike that day and is smooth sailing, kind of. He falls, but he gets right back up to try again.

Jakob was the highlight of the trip! The kid flipped over his handle bars and face planted on the concrete! And I missed it! ;-p He busted his teeth, his gums were swelling, his top teeth went into his bottom lip. Both his elbows have road rash on them and his hands are scraped too. All of that and neither of us freaked out! Hard to believe right?

Anyway….I have to get up and clean house! It sucks, but someone has to do it! I will be back later I am sure! Sarah Palin will always give me something to bitch about! ♥

IT’S A GIRL!

05 Dec

We found out yesterday that baby #4 is definitely a girl! I think we were both stunned to her the tech say “I don’t know, that looks like a girl to me” after swearing for the last 4 months that she was definitely a he. I think I spent the entire ultrasound in tears. And what’s even better than her being a girl is that she is a completely healthy little girl.

We told Jakob and Spencer (who have been told from day one that she was a he too) last night. We told them by giving them both pink burp cloths and telling them they were going to need to use those in case the new baby spit up. At first it didn’t click with them but then Dylan asked “Do you think they are a good color?”. And Jakob said “Well, they look kind of girlie.”. And then it clicked. Spencer said “NO WAY! I AM NOT GOING NEAR THAT! GIRLS ARE WEIRD!”. They both got pretty stoked when we told them they could now get those funny shirts that say stuff like “Will trade my sister for candy”. Silly boys.

Maddux keeps saying her name over and over again. WAudrey. (It’s Audrey, but he has to add the W) And he keeps saying “My sister”. It sounds so cute and so bizarre. He no longer wants to squish the baby anymore either. Before we found out, he had this thing he liked to do. I would ask him if he wants to squish Sawyer and he would drop everything and run over and squeeze my belly. He doesn’t want to do that now.

It’s so so crazy!

Taking the plunge

27 Nov

It’s time. Maddux has a slim desire to sit on the toilet and try to go pee, so we are going with it. I doubt anything will come of it, but wouldn’t it be nice if it did. Then I could break my 8 year streak of constantly changing diapers for a few months? But alas, it won’t happen. Maddux is my son and being my son means he has a stubborn streak a mile wide. But it can’t hurt to try!

I am still no where near the completion of Jakob’s Christmas Tree costume and I have no idea if I will ever be done with it. This is crazy. I also have to pull through with my home room mother duties and help plan the Christmas party. I really wish I would have known I was pregnant before I signed up for that job

Spencer had his Thanksgiving feast last week and though he did have a line in the program, I have NO idea what he actually said. It was super cute though.

Alexander Michael arrived on November 17, 2006.

That’s about all the updates I have for now. Click here to take a peek. :)
