So, mostly everyone knows that Jakob’s ball team has not been so great. They have yet to win a game and we played I think 3, maybe 4 games. Well….They FINALLY won one Friday night!
Not only did the win, but MY boy made the 2 key plays to cause them to win! The game stayed close. The first inning we were run ruled, but we run ruled them right back! Jakob scored that inning which made it 7-7. Jake’s next at bat he got a hit and due to an idiot umpire he was called out at first. (Not a biased parent, all the other parents in the stand said it was an eff up on the Ump’s part too).
In the last inning, the opposing team was up to bat. The score was 17-15 (us ahead). The got 3 hits which brought the score to 17-18. Jakob was playing second. The ball was hit, hit the ground and then popped back up where he caught it and tagged the base. It was a forced run so he didn’t have to tag the player. It was the 3rd out.
Our team was up to bat (we got last at bat) and Jakob was first up. My heart was in my throat. I was SO nervous for him. His coach was talking to him and trying to make sure he stayed focus because OhMyGoodness, we were thisclose to winning. His first pitch was a foul. His second was a strike. His third was a ball. On his fourth pitch, he swung and hit the ball into the outfield and ran to second! The other team got it and threw it in. It was an over throw and he managed to run ALL THE WAY HOME. He tied the game!! My baby tied the game!
The next 2 kids hit and got us two more runs! The game ended 20-18! I was SO proud of Jakob. Even Green Shirt Guy came and gave Jake a big hug and told him how great he did. He really needed that.
We started Spencer’s game and I was in the dugout since Shawn and Dylan weren’t there, but in the beginning of the first inning, the game was called because it started raining. It wasn’t going so badly. We had a bunch of different people helping coach.
Anyway, Dylan’s recovering okay and hopefully will be up moving around better soon. I have another week or so of baby duty before he can help. I am so exhausted. The girl is up eating 3 times a night!
