Officially Diagnosed

16 Oct

Over the last year, we’ve been on the fence about whether or not Spencer has Asthma. He was always coughing and sometimes complained about having a hard time breathing, especially after running and playing outside. The doctor put him on an inhaler last winter and it helped a lot with the coughing fits.

When it started back up the other day, I took him in and she went ahead and diagnosed him with exercise induced asthma. The lung function test wouldn’t show with EIA so it’s basically based on his history and current issues.

He is back on Singulair and she gave him a different inhaler (Xopenex) and this one is for use only if needed. He had the Pro-Air before and he took it regularly. So, we will see how this works. If he has to use the inhaler too often then we are going to have to go back and do the lung function test.

So there’s that and Maddux has a nasty cough going on right now too. He got some antibiotics to help with whatever is going on there. Something tells me we are going to spend a lot of time in the doctor’s office this winter.

Anyway, I am going to get ready for bed. I have a lot to do tomorrow to prepare for our zoo trip Sunday and Jakob has to get busy on his 3-page report on Franklin D. Roosevelt that is do on Monday! He left the work he had already accomplished at school yesterday and with it being fall break, he can’t go get it, so he has to start ALL OVER! Ought to be fun! :sigh:

EFF you Autozone! And I mean it with a capital F!

So, my day started off SWELL……in my dreams!

Actually what happened was Dylan went to start the van this morning and it made the dreaded dead battery noise. After about 3 attempts it did manage to start so he went to work. As soon as he got to work, he shut her down and tried to start her up again……no go.

Well…..being that we JUST bought a new battery last month we both thought for sure there was something bigger going on, like the alternator. We have plans to go to Fort Worth Zoo on Sunday, so I wanted to be absolutely sure we didn’t have a more serious issue. I put my big girl panties on a drove to Norman all by myself! Well, Gretchen and Audrey went with me, but i still drove.

I had to fight off a mild panic attack when I first got on the Interstate, but I did it! I will not mention how I made it from Norman back home in 50 minutes, which had me going 85-90mph the whole way home. I apparently have a lead foot. Anyway, back to the story.

So, I get to Big Red and they spend hours doing some diagnostic crap the Old Betsy to only come back and tell me that my brand new battery is crap and needs to be replaced, and oh by the way, you owe us 50 bucks since it isn’t covered under your warranty! NICE!

So, I drive all the way home after hearing this information and being pissed at the money I wasted. And I head straight for Autozone, after I picked Maddie up from school, and tell them my problem. Oh no, it can’t be the battery, they have never had one go bad that quickly before…….so then Miss Minimum Wage, what did I just pay 50 bucks for then?

She demands to do a battery check…..hey dumbass, I have a print out from the dealer that tells you EXACTLY what’s wrong…Just FIX IT! Anyway, I let her do her battery test after telling her I didn’t have time to sit there and follow their “one attendant outside with a customer at a time rule” because I had to hurry up back across town to be home when Jake and Spence got home. Then she bitched at me because she got in trouble! Whatever!

Then to appease her retardedness, I let her check the alternator that I JUST HAD CHECKED again! Surprise! Surprise! It was perfectly fine! She then tried to tell me I have a short somewhere in my electrical system because the van acted like it wanted to power down. I said okay and left!

Seriously, those folks at Autozone need more training if they are going to try to tell you what is wrong with your car! Dummies!

Anyway, we are going to the Zoo and CEC for Jakob’s birthday celebration this Sunday. I can not believe he turned 10 years old Saturday! He’s getting so big!

I am going to bed! It’s been a long day!

My daughter is weird!

Seriously….she is a strange little character.

She walks around the house wearing ziplock bags, wipey bags, or envelopes on her feet and calls them shoes. I am waiting for her to want to leave the house wearing them. She carries a wipey around half the day and fake blows her nose into it. At least she is trying to be neat.

She likes to give Randal a “sisquit” and then she pats him on the back and says “good boy”. She talks a lot. She definitely talks more than Maddux and Spencer did at this age, but not near as much as Jakob. She sings her ABC’s, out of order of course, and can count to 3. She’s so fun.

So, I didn’t watch much of the debate last night. I was so tired. But I watched enough to giggle at John McCain walking around like a weeble and trying to appear not 72. Basically it was the same loads of BS repeated over again in different ways. Not worth 90 minutes of my time since I am not going to be swayed. Plus, Tom Brokaw was probably as annoying as Jim Leher was. I haven’t decided on that yet.

Ok….Audrey is going to be Little Red Riding Hood for Halloween! No more changes! I made the costume without a pattern, on my own and while it isn’t perfect, it’ll do for Halloween! I have to make Spencer and Jakob’s next. I think Jake’s will be a surprise. :p

And we now return from our short break!

I think I totally need to have GoDaddy automatically debiting my account for my hosting every month. I never remember to pay it until they shut me down!

I ended up having to put the “Did you pass math” plugin back on for when you comment. Askismet stopped catching all of the spam and I got tired of deleting it everyday. Sorry peeps that want to comment but don’t want a refresher in first grade math. I had no choice.

Anyway, over the weekend, Dylan and I took our first ever out of town, overnight trip without the kids. We left Friday morning to go to Waco and stay at my sister’s house. It was a nice visit. We went to eat at The Cotton Patch, which was REALLY good. I will definitely eat at one again should the chance arise.

Saturday, we went to the OU/Baylor game. It was INCREDIBLE! We were in Row 18, right behind the band. So close to the field, we could hear plays being called, helmets smashing, and all kinds of crazy noise. It was a blast. We left at the beginning of the 4th quarter because I was becoming increasingly red. I wasn’t prepared for the sun at all.

It was an awesome trip and even though we had a blast, we missed the kids terribly. I couldn’t get home to them fast enough.

On the way down to Waco, using Mapquest directions, once we got out of Ft. Worth, we ended up on back roads the rest of the way to Waco. It made the drive a lot longer, but it was so much fun. We were in Hillbilly Hell most of the way. I was a little leery when we had to drive over a dam built by the Army Corps of Engineers, but we obviously made it. ((giggle))

We also drove through Crawford, Texas. Home of George W. Bush (said in my best redneck voice….if I had one). That was interesting to say the least.

All in all, it was great fun. But I am not leaving my babies like that again anytime soon.

Jakob turns 10 years old Saturday! I can not believe my little boy is officially going to be a pre-teen. Especially since he’s had the attitude of a 16 year old for the last 2 years. Anyway, I have to get ready to get Maddie…..I mean Maddux. We have recently been requested by Maddux to not refer to him as Maddie anymore. I love this age!
